See, shit like this is why I could never get a dime on resale for my textbooks. It is physically impossible for me to sit in a class with a pencil in my hand, and not doodle constantly. There were some halfway decent things that arose out of that month in the SACVAP class though, so I've gone ahead and pasted them all up together, for records' sake. I've posted it here on DeviantArt because the size makes it awkward with Journal interface, but there's all sorts of stuffs in there. Including a couple of HP fandoodles (Two Snapes, a Harry, a Pansy, and a Tonks, if you're curious,) along with my normal fodder of elves, faeries, flowers, abstract viney-smokey things, and a monster or two. Oh, and a nekkid boy too. Feedback is welcome, as always, but please leave it here, not on my DA account, as I don't bother checking anything over there anymore. (They're all doodyheads, is why.)
Panicked post is, well, panicked @ 12:20 pm

Okay, so I knew that today was the beginning of the Holiday fest season, but I think I underestimated how far behind I was about to get. Dudes, it's Day ONE and I am already behind! *panics* 1. snapelyholidays started today. The first fic looks delicious (Threesome FTW!) 2. hd_holidays had started (I think it started last night) and I wanna support it since I have friends in it, but I will need help, folks. Please to be reccing on this one, yeah? 3. snarry_holidays ditto number two. 4. daily_deviant's Kinky Kristmas looks to be fabulous (oh how I love mah kinky peeps there!), although is it bad that I'm hoping that the fics are on the shorter side? ;) 5. dracoharry100 and slythindor100 both have special Christmas challenges in which I am participating. 6. adventdrabbles! Wheee. The response has already been phenomenal. 7. And I am sure there are other things not listed here that I've forgotten BUT I HAVE YET TO WRITE MY snarry_swap fic, so I can't worry about them ATM! Hence the panic. Anyway, this is just to say that if I miss something you think I'd like, please let me know. Also? It appears I am not meant to have an AO3 account. I applied a while back and yet when I checked the status of my application yesterday, it now says they've never heard of me (IIRC, I was number 10 on the list on Friday). Should even I bother reapplying or just take it as a sign that I am not meant to join?

This morning I woke from a very involved dream about making cookies. Lots of kinds of cookies, with chocolate and nuts and drop cookies and bar cookies and vanilla and mint and mmmm, but most especially this variant on sugar cookies with this frosting that was magically shape-able like fondant, only didn't taste godawful and also was soft and yummy. Also in the dream, at one point I was repeatedly following Gwen out of Camelot and losing her at some sort of weird hidden path that went on the side of the boulder that didn't exist; I would come back and 1. make more cookies, and 2. listen to additional/ongoing discussion on the importance of calling in the right people to resolve the problem when there are unusual incidents at work (with worksheets and group activities and all the other trappings of an all-day training on something lame), and then follow her again (and lose her again), and so on. Then, more cookies. I cannot tell you how sad I was to find no cookies whatsoever in my kitchen on getting up. The lecture on public-safety calls I was okay not to find underway, but. Cookies! I can practically taste them, and yet, they are not here. Also not here: Camelot. *wail* I originally posted this at http://florahart.dreamwidth.org/1007298.html. I scanned this pic out of the latest Entertainment magazine. It's from a photo book wherein a photographer stalks Our Danny throughout his day, snapping candid pics along the way. I picked this one because of that shocking hair, more than anything. Though the big kushy robe didn't hurt none. ( SleepyDan cuteness here follows. )

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'll find my dresses in one of the boxes, buried under some books. I should never have listened to WG. I was supposed to go to Seattle September 9th. I had the tickets and it was all set. We were going to go through all our things together and split them up. Take things to Goodwill. I was going to help him move. I was going to take him to his oral surgery appointment. I was going to put together furniture for him in his new apartment. I was going to spend some time with Monte kitty to say goodbye. He called me and asked me not to come. He'd send me my things. Why did I trust him?

I just discovered that WG kept both of my stretch velvet cocktail dresses, the deep blue one and the black one. That's just beyond the pale. He went through my stuff and just decided what he wanted to keep. Regardless of whose it was.

Sometimes, disliking a female character has nothing to do with being misogynist. Sometimes, one just doesn't find them likable regardless of their gender. Other times, one dislikes them because the author's own misogyny shows through the character.

This year snarry_holidays will be collecting links to send into the HP newsletter, the daily_snitch, for both Hot Art and Hot Recs. Fic and art need three recs to qualify (can be posted on IJ, LJ, DW, or JF) and must not be locked. If you see or make any recs for any of this round's gifts, please leave them in the comments on this post. The mods will be on the lookout, too, but we might miss something! Thanks for your help!

For many people it's a stressful (if lovely) time of year, and snarry_holidays is ready to insert that special bit of Snarry into your holiday season. ;-) We'll kick start our posting tonight at 9pm EST, so please stick around if you can! Some notes before we begin:
-- We will start posting today (yay!) December 1, and posting will run until December 23. snarry_holidays will be posting this year at InsaneJournal, LiveJournal, and Dreamwidth. You may comment to any of the sites, though commenting on IJ is encouraged, if possible. -- With around 60 submissions, we will be posting an average of two gifts per day (a mix of fic and art, of course) with several days of three gifts. We will do our best to space out long fics so that everyone doesn't become too overwhelmed. -- If you are participating and you have an extension, please keep us updated and get your gift to us ASAP. If we have not heard from you at all, you might be in trouble! *waves modly stick* -- Thanks so much to elethian, who has agreed to help us proofread! -- Please remember that feedback and comments are very much encouraged. That being said, please attempt to keep your comments cordial. We know people have strong feelings about Snarry and writing, fic and art, but please play nicely (i.e. no flaming, say something constructive). If you have any questions about what this might constitute, email us at snarryholiday [at] gmail [dot] com. We'll be reading all the comments. -- We're going to be collecting recs for daily_snitch, so please send us links to your fic and art recs! We're collecting the recs at this post, on IJ. Fic and art need three recs (not locked) to qualify. -- Please spread the word! We hope everyone enjoys the all the lovely Snarry coming in the next few weeks! Thanks to all the hard work on behalf of the participants!

Ficlet: "Twice as Nice" (Kirk/McCoy/Spock, entirely NC17) @ 11:30 pm

The next-to-last Monday of the semester, woo hoo! Taught, had a couple of students come by during office hours, distributed cranberry bread, did some grading (have more to do tomorrow though). Came home and did financial stuff - bill-paying etc. - then finished making gumbo and rice for dinner, and since then have been dinking around mostly. I'm getting excited for the beginning of the posting whirlwind, despite knowing that there's no way on earth I can read anything like all the fic I'd like to; heck, I have probably 30+ fics open in tabs already. Have started on my 3fan_holidays ficlet, have about 4 other drabbles to write, plus my Yuletide fic. SO wanted to know what I was working on tonight, and when I told him I was transcribing something and that it was schmoop, not porn, he wanted a definition for schmoop. The best I could come up with was, "like a Hallmark card." *headdesk* Re: the filtered post from earlier, SO and I are thinking that Juno may not like walking in early-midafternoon. She tends to snooze then, if left to her own devices. So he's going to try walking her earlier, in the morning, on Wednesday and see if she has more energy then. (I usually walk her in the morning.)

... I might possibly need someone to beat me soundly about the head and shoulders until I manage not to sign up for hds_beltane this year. Because I am a NaNo Loser, and I don't deserve to subject myself to more deadline shenanigans in the wake of that debacle. Especially with the balance of TF left to write. I'm a loser, baby, so why don'tcha kill me? In other news, I saw a bald eagle over the Hudson river on Saturday. He was playing in the thermals, and freaking the seagulls out, just a hundred feet or so above the water. He was also stunningly gorgeous, as such birds tend to be. Contractors. All of them have different notions. So far, the one I trust best hasn't given me a number, but I'm hoping he'll come back in the ballpark, because I would SO like to work with him over any of the others. One of them's blase over the project, but will only say 'we got to do this hourly. However long it takes, that's how much it's gonna be.' which... um... how about "no"? Does "No" work for you? And the other one's rather hysterically ballooning the project to include three more feet of sill plate, and sistering five or six joists. and repointing masonry, and just... geez, man! We already had the city engineer look at it, and he TOLD us what we needed to do, and it wasn't anything like alla that. I just want our guy to come back in the right range. So we can stand a chance at getting this hole plugged up before the snow flies this year. Is that so much to ask, really? I am also, apparently, vaguely ill. And I do mean that qualifier exactly; this is nothing specific, except for painfully swollen glands in my throat, profound lethargy, eye pain, and a sort of thickish feeling in my eustacian tubes. Luckily, I know where the NyQuil is kept, so with luck, I can sleep this bug off before it gets a solid hold. I made beef barley soup today. It rocked, and was not even bad for us... aside from the salt content, that is. And now I'm going to bed.

I just realised my last post (before the wishlist thingy) was over a month ago! So updates.... - The TB test was positive. Really, Wtf. Even the Dr's we've seen were Wtf, where'd you get that from? Fortunately not in a contagious state, but still needs treating.
- Am working on ABP. Really! I am determined to get an update out before the end of the year. And hopefully get back to some kind of posting schedule after that.
- Was rationing meds. Got that problem fixed for the year. Feeling better.
- Tramadol increased from 90 per month to 240 per month. Feeling much better.
- I did 2 holiday fan exchanges (Snarry holidays and Snapely holidays)! Got them both in way before deadline. And I don't hate them! (A couple flaws jump out at me of course, but I think that's normal for artists). Digital art, but I'm hoping this translates to more inspiration for actual painting on canvas.

Cleaning @ 05:32 pm
lexin:
After Herculean efforts I bought a light bulb for the kitchen today (fluorescent, 1500mm) and discovered the dreadful truth. I live like a pig. For some reason, the new bulb seems to be brighter than the one it replaced, and the kitchen is now lit like the opening scene of a panto ("are we all happy boys and girls?") bringing into sharp relief my kitchen-cleaning failure of the past few weeks. (This may be a lie. It may have been longer – cleaning the kitchen rather went by the wayside when I got depressed. Don't eat at my house.) I first tried to buy this thing on Sunday at the horrible shop near where gloria1 lives, and over a week since the previous one bit the dust. They had everything else, they sell kitchens let alone kitchen sinks, but not a 1500mm fluorescent bulb. Every other size, and shape, but not that. So, frustrated, I bought a Christmas tree. As you do, obviously. The young man in the horrible shop told me strange stories of an electrical shop further down the road at Thatched House - which is near the place where the psychiatrist has his office – but obviously he was not open on a Sunday. It seemed to me therefore that I could roll two visits up together today. Had I the sense given a billiard ball I'd have visited the psychiatrist first and then bought the bulb, but for some reason that obvious way round eluded me and I arrived at the psychiatrist's office clutching a fragile 1500mm of glass. And the psychiatrist says I'm not mad – really, he does. I asked him. I also asked him what I should do about my generalised cleaning failure. He said, "Get a cleaner." Which is what gloria1 told me when I asked her. So I'm considering it. This entry was originally posted at http://lexin.dreamwidth.org/17902.html. You can comment here or there, it's up to you.
